Thunderstorms and Celebrations
The morning greeted us with a deluge — the rain lasted until early afternoon. It was a perfect excuse to do very little. We enjoyed our coffee, melon (a type we don’t see in the US, most similar to a honey dew — we love it), bread and sausage … while enjoying the rain and some television.

Kristi and I had to call it a night just after midnight. The parade though was only half over; it will likely go to at least 3am.
The rain came down until mid afternoon, so we just continued to enjoy some quiet time at “home.” We even took a nap. By 3:30 the rain had given way to cloudy, but dry skies. We finally decided to get cleaned up for the evening’s festivities; Linda and David picked us up to go into town.
Once we got into town, we had some dinner and then walked around a little bit before the parade started.
The parade started at about 9:00 PM. Linda, David, and friends had put out some chairs, so we had really good seats along the parade route. It was really a lot of fun to watch as the different groups danced, marched, and played.
After a couple of hours, Kristi and I decided to go do some dessert shopping/tasting at some of the food booths.
